QUOTES AND PHRASES
"Know thyself"[1] is an Ancient Greek aphorism that means "know thy measure".[2] According to the Greek writer Pausanias,[3] it was the first of three Delphic maxims inscribed in the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi.[4] The two maxims that follow "know thyself" were "nothing to excess" and "certainty brings ruin".[5]
