Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud was a companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad whom Islamic tradition regards the greatest interpreter of the Quran of his time and the second ever.[1][2] He was also known by the kuniya Abu Abd al-Rahman.[3]: 289
